Types of surgery

May 27th, 2008 by editor

There are two types of plastic surgery: Reconstructive and cosmetic. Reconstructive surgery from the word reconstruction deals with repair. If one had an operation that resulted to a deformation, like that of a breast cancer patient who needs to have her mammary glands back, then that is where reconstructive surgery comes in. Cosmetic surgery is what we often call vanity operation, it is done to improve physical disposition. This type of surgery has two types: Surgical and non surgical. Surgical includes rhynoplasty (reshaping of the nose) breast reduction or enlargement, liposuction among others. Non surgical procedures includes dermabrassion (lightening of scars), laser peeling and other skin oriented operation meant for that flawless look.

Look Ma, No Blood!

Meso-Sculpting or Meso-Lipo has bumped off Liposuction off its pedestal. Liposuction used to be one of the more widely-performed invasive procedure for fat removal. Now, the same effect of fat-loss and improvement in body contour can be achieved with a non-surgical technique.

Also referred to as lipo-dissolve, meso-lipo involves the injection of a fat-dissolving substance called Phosphatidylcholine and application of a massaging technique called mesotheraphy to
reduce the appearance of cellulite on localized areas with fat deposits.

Unlike liposuction, meso-lipo does not require general anesthesia and recovery time after the procedure. There may be little bruising and pain but the patient can go on with his/her life soon after the procedure is done.
