The earliest records of plastic surgery is found in the writings of ancient Indian physician Sushruta Samhita. In the ancient times, simple surgical techniques were employed to repair damaged body parts due to punishments by mutilation. With the introduction of the anesthesia in the 1800s, performing plastic surgery became more common and less risky.
